The ten string guitar
   
1828 - Fernando Carulli it uses a guitar of ten cords with an extension in the handle without touched for the four added strings, built up by the luthier René Lacote and registered in Paris in 1861.

Carulli, also composed themes for this instrument which can be found in his methodic book Op.293 for the ten strings guitar.  

Sor, Coste, Mertz, among other musicians wrote musical pieces for the ten string guitar.

   

Narciso Yepes, gave his first concert with this guitar in Berlín, 1964

1960 - The Spanish luthier Jose Ramirez III, dedicated much study to the construction of guitars with the purpose of solving the physical acoustic problems of the instrument and of extending his sound, was contacted with Narciso Yepes with which the idea elaborated to him to add more strings to the instrument.

Yepes suggested to Ramirez the aggregate of four strings in the bass extension, placed on an ample handle, entire touched to have the possibility of extending the range of sounds with the left hand.

In 1964 it had his origin the first modern ten string guitar.
